Fire Marshal for Care Homes: what is covered?

This course provides a comprehensive overview of fires, fire risk assessments, health and safety best practices, fire extinguishers and the role of a fire marshal or fire warden in a care home.

The start of the course focuses on the broad concepts that underpin general fire safety: the dangers of fire, common health and safety signs and what they mean, fire detection systems, and the overall responsibilities of a fire warden or fire marshal.

You’ll then learn more about conducting fire risk assessments, devising and implementing appropriate evacuation plans, and managing and conducting necessary fire drill procedures.

Sections on safe evacuations, and how fire marshals can guide others and provide the leadership needed for calm and effective emergency procedures, are also included.

Finally, overviews of the five main different types of fire extinguisher, as well as a look at the relevant legislation underpinning the role of fire marshals in care homes, are also provided.

What our students say

Wonderful course, very easy to follow. Got me up to speed in no time at all on the basics of fire safety. Would recommend to others wishing to learn more about the basic principles of fire safety in the workplace.

I enjoyed this course and found the interactive videos easy to follow.  The course content is well thought out and provided lots of useful information.  I passed each module with flying colours and feel I now understand the basics when it comes to asbestos awareness.  Would highly recommend this online course.

The level 1 food safety for catering course was easy to follow and I learned a lot.  I enjoyed the way the course was delivered and how it was broken down into small modules, which made it easier to learn.  I have since completed level 2 food safety too.
