Basic Fire Safety Awareness for Care Homes: what is covered?

This basic fire safety for care homes course starts with the basics: how to reduce the risk of fire, how fire spreads, and what is meant by the term ‘Triangle of Fire’.

It then helps students to apply that knowledge to the specialist surroundings of care environments.

During this course, students learn more about how to determine which care home residents might be particularly vulnerable, how to evacuate a care home safely and efficiently, and the typical fire safety arrangements a successful care home should have in place.

Students will also learn about the most common health and safety signs seen in care homes and healthcare environments, as well as the most suitable care home evacuation strategies.

They will look at fire safety arrangements, including the importance of good housekeeping, safe storage, emergency fire exit routes and electrical safety.

Finally, students will discover the most common types of fire extinguishers and fire blankets found in care homes, and develop an understanding of when each one is best used.

What our students say

Wonderful course, very easy to follow. Got me up to speed in no time at all on the basics of fire safety. Would recommend to others wishing to learn more about the basic principles of fire safety in the workplace.

I enjoyed this course and found the interactive videos easy to follow.  The course content is well thought out and provided lots of useful information.  I passed each module with flying colours and feel I now understand the basics when it comes to asbestos awareness.  Would highly recommend this online course.

The level 1 food safety for catering course was easy to follow and I learned a lot.  I enjoyed the way the course was delivered and how it was broken down into small modules, which made it easier to learn.  I have since completed level 2 food safety too.
