Basic Fire Safety Awareness: what is covered?

This course covers a range of different fire safety elements.

A general introduction gives students the chance to broadly understand the nature of fire and why fire safety is important.

You’ll learn about what is needed for fire to take hold, the different types of fire that can arise in workplace settings, and the key conditions that enable fires to spread.

You’ll also learn about the dangers of smoke inhalation.

The course also goes into detail about how to spot and reduce fire risks and fire hazards in the workplace, as well as best practices around evacuation routes, fire exits and what to do in the event of a fire.

You’ll also learn about effective health and safety signs in professional environments.

Finally, the course introduces you to fire extinguishers and the five most common types of extinguisher found in the workplace.

You’ll see demonstrations of each of the extinguishers and begin to understand when it is safe – and, crucially, when it is not safe – to use them to tackle ongoing fires.

The positive impact of fire blankets will also be covered.

How long will it take to complete this course and how will I be assessed?

This fire safety training is conducted entirely online. It typically takes 60 minutes to complete the training and you will be assessed by a multiple choice test at the end of each module.

To pass the course and receive a certificate of recognition, you will need to score at least 70% in each module.

This course is approved by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), so you can be assured of its quality and strength in educating your workforce about the importance of fire safety awareness.

It is also accredited by the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Certification Service and the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

When you successfully complete the course, you will be issued a certificate of achievement that recognises your training in and awareness of how to keep your workplace safe.
